There is a relentless feed of articles crossing our paths every day. If you don’t read the article right then and there, you might not be able to find it later. People try all sorts of tricks: open an article in a new tab, emailing it to yourself, re-posting it to their own page so they can find it later…
MySlushpile.com solves this problem by providing you with a convenient place to organize and stash links to articles you want to read. So when you have time, you have the time.
With mySlushpile, you can save links to articles your want to read (but don’t have time to right then) into categories that you create yourself. What’s more, other people can come visit your category pages.
If you want to create a mySlushpile account, go to https://www.mySlushpile.com/html and click the Register link.
This is the first thing you need to do. Piles are the categories that help you organize the articles you are saving. You can call your piles anything and you can have as many piles as you want.
To create piles, go to the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner (only visible when you are logged in) and select “New Pile” from the list. Then, add a name for a pile and select if you want it to be Public (anybody can see it) or Private (only you can see it).
Once you have Piles set up, you may want to make changes to them. Select “Manage Piles” from the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner. A display appears that shows the name of each of your piles, how many articles you have stored in the pile. To change the name of the pile and adjust it’s privacy settings, select the “Edit” button. To delete the pile, select the “Delete” button. Deleting a pile is permanent.
Install the Bookmark Tool (desktop only)
When you’re on a laptop or desktop computer, the bookmark tool makes it really easy to save articles to your mySlushpile site. When you are on an article you want to save, click the button in your browser. A small pop-up window appears (you must allow pop-ups for this to work) which contains the headline, a blurb, and image (if available). There, select the pile you want to save to and click Submit.
To install the bookmark tool, go to the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner and select “Install Bookmark Tool.” This will provide you instructions on how to install it.
To add Slushpile to your phone or tablet, select “Add to Home Screen”. On Apple iPhones, got to your Slushpile page. Then, tap for the “up” arrow at the bottom of the screen and select “Add to Home Screen.”
Adding stories to your mySlushpile site is easy on a mobile device, too. Copy the url of a story you want to save, launch the mySlushpile app. Tap the big “Add a Story” button appears across the bottom of the mobile screen, paste the url, choose the pile you want to save to, and click submit.
Change your Profile Picture.
You can change your profile picture. When you are logged in and on your own mySlushpile page, a white “+” appears in the lower left-hand corner of the existing profile pic. Click that, choose the picture you would rather use, and select the Change button.
Fill Out Your Profile
Go to the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner and click on “Your Profile.” Here you can add a web site address as well as your social media urls. These will then appear under your profile picture.
